Stop by our magic café for a delicious elixir!

According to the Dictionary of Foreign Words, elixir is nothing more than an imaginary miracle cure according to superstitious beliefs. Those with some knowledge of alchemy will have heard of a magical potion called the elixir of life, which can even achieve immortality. And does the name Nicolas Flamel ring a bell? He's a key character in the Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone story, but he's more than that: He is the only character in J.K. Rowling's magical world who could have existed in real life.

Flamel's life and work as an alchemist inspired not only the English writer, but also other authors. References to it can be found in the worldwide successes The Da Vinci Code, Notre Dame in Paris and even in the classic The Count of Monte Cristo. But what does Flamel have to do with elixirs? Here are a few thoughts on the subject.

You can also taste the elixir of Beauty in our Magic Restaurant

Although much of the life of the famous alchemist Flamel is shrouded in mystery, legend has it that it was he who, after an angelic apparition, created the Philosopher's Stone, which made him and his wife not only rich but immortal. The Philosopher's Stone gave him the recipe for the elixir of life, which, according to legend, prolonged the couple's life for centuries to come. So it's no coincidence that the famous alchemist Nicolas Flamel appears in the Harry Potter stories, just as it's no coincidence that we serve a variety of elixirs in our magical restaurant inspired by the world of Harry Potter. Along with magical dishes, you can also sample the favourite potions and elixirs of Muggles and wizards. We don't yet know the recipe for the elixir of immortality, but our fancy drink, called the Elixir of Beauty, is well worth a try.
