Celebrate Children's Day in our themed restaurant in Budapest!

In Hungary, we celebrate Children's Day on the last Sunday of May every year. If you want to do something different this year, bring your little one to The Magic! Try one of our magic burgers, but also leave room for our magical treats! We'll make sure the service is fantastic, the bites delicious and the atmosphere magical. And even if you're waiting for your order to be served, there's never a dull moment: we've got plenty of magical interactive surprises for new and returning wizards and witches, and we won't leave Muggles hungry either.

Where does the tradition of Children's Day come from?

Children's Day was first celebrated on 23 April 1920, in Turkey. In Hungary, the first red-letter holiday for the youngest children was celebrated in 1931, although it was not called Children's Day but Children's Week, and lasted for a whole week.

In 1954, the United Nations General Assembly proposed that there should be a day every year, a so-called Universal Children's Day, to mark the day of all the world's children and the unceasing struggle for the well-being of children. It was left up to countries to decide when they wanted to celebrate this day, and in Hungary the date was set for the last Sunday in May each year. Children's Day is celebrated in many countries, in many places on 1 June. This date was set in 1925 at the Geneva Conference on Child Welfare.
