What kind of milk can you drink in a magic café?

From time to time, the milk debate flares up. To drink or not to drink? Is it even possible to drink too much milk? But the truth is that drinking milk has become so much a part of our culture that even those who do not drink animal milk because of their lifestyle or sensitivities are happy to replace it with something like milk. Would you drink milk coffee and make it tastier with cow's milk? Or would you try plant-based alternatives? We recommend the following article from our magic restaurant!

Coffee with milk? But with what kind of milk?

Whether traditional or magic café the answer to the above question is no longer clear. Although dieticians say that despite the criticisms, there is a place for milk in our diets, as it contains not only calcium but also vitamin D and protein, not everyone can drink real milk or wants to drink animal-based beverages. That's why there are now many alternatives, including soya, almond and coconut varieties. Although these are not dairy products in the classic sense of the word, and may taste a little different, they can be used to spark anyone's culinary creativity, and of course, there's no shortage of them in Harry Potter fans' favourite cafés

Cow's milk - a classic solution for our magic café

You probably don't need us to tell you what milk is, but it's good to know what fat content is enough to call it „real” milk. The most common varieties of milk are semi-skimmed at 2.8% and low-fat at 1.5%, but standardised whole milk is the variety with a fat content of 3.5%. However, even half-whole milk may be sufficient to supplement the daily calcium intake.

Lactose-free milk - the almost classic version

There are several options for lactose intolerant people, and it is now standard for all magic cafés to offer lactose-free milk. The most obvious option is normal lactose-free milk, which is in fact classic cow's milk from which the lactase enzyme that causes sensitivity has been removed through various processes, making it safe for anyone to consume.

Plant-based milks - if you're looking for a vegan drink in our magic café

If you don't want to consume animal products or are simply lactose intolerant but don't like the taste of lactose-free milk, there are many options to choose from. Coconut milk is now very common and is used in many dishes because of its thick consistency. Soya milk can be an equally good milk substitute, as it has a high protein content similar to milk, while being low in calories. A favourite choice for vegans, almond milk also helps keep calorie intake in check and is good for your heart.
